I saw these JetFlash V30 4GB USB Drives on Kalahari.net a week or so ago. I checked around, and at R150 for 4GB, it looks as if they’re pretty much the cheapest USB drives around at the moment. So I ordered two yesterday, and they arrived about an hour ago.
They only actually store 3.8 GiB, but by now we’ve come to expect that kind of decimal vs. binary prefix double-talk from hard drive and flash disk manufacturers.
They are physically a lot smaller than I thought they would be. Smaller than my old 128MB stick, in fact. You can also do lots of groovy things with them (like using it as a key for your PC, encrypt the drive, compress the drive), if you download the extra software.
If, like me, you were waiting for an opportune time to upgrade your USB drive, now seems like a good time for it.
